Description of Volkl Supersport S5 Ti Skis W/M12 IPT Bindings

Although it’s new, the Supersport S5 borrows its inspiration from the ski that started the Supersport concept – the 5 Star. Now featuring Extended Double Grip construction, the Volkl Supersport S5 ski gives advanced and expert skiers an incredible range of all-mountain performance. Extended Double Grip is the Volkl signature construction which features dual chambers extending from tip to tail, providing strong support for the edges, and enabling the ideal distribution of pressure to the snow. Also used with Extended Grip is the Extended Wood Core. Two full-length sections follow the sides of the ski. Each is laminated to a bottom layer of titanium, forming the ski’s backbone. The Volkl S5 features a narrower, 69mm waist, and slightly softer flex than the Allstar.

Volkl/Marker has teamed up again to reveal the newest in ski/binding technology. This new system is called the iPT which stands for ‘Internal Power Transmission’. By being inside the ski, the interface is both lighter and more powerful. Also by being inside it makes the interface the most rigid of any Motion System built to date. The sides of the interface rest directly on top of the exclusive Extended Double Grip construction, pressuring the ski directly over the edges, and maximizing the system’s efficiency. Upper-end Motion iPT systems feature Marker’s signature Piston control. On the MMotion System, the piston unit is attached to the ski in front of the binding. The ‘piston arm’ is integrated with the Motion interface and attaches under the toe piece. The piston improves high speed vibration control by quieting the ski’s ‘counter flex’ at turn exit, readying it for the next turn.
